About ISA
Founded in 1945, ISA is a leading, global, nonprofit organization that
is sets automation standards helping over 30,000 worldwide members. ISA
develops standards; certifies industry professionals; provides education
and training; publishes books and technical articles; and hosts the
largest conference and exhibition for automation professionals in the
Western Hemisphere.
Central Arizona Section of ISA (CENAZ) consists of approximately 300
members and hosts two local annual events each year. A membership drive
is held each September at T.Hance Park with grilled steaks, Executive
Board hospitality, and networking with local members and associated
automation professionals. CENAZ also hosts a Vendor Table top show in
the spring with traditional and innovative gadgets for industrial
automation and control supported by local vendors and consultants.
The traditional role of ISA, over the past 60 years, has been networking
through monthly events consisting of a plant tour or speaker and dinner.
As with many societies, the convenience of website and email networking
has replaced traditional speaker and dinner events. CENAZ leadership
now approaches event planning with the concept of fewer but higher
impact events. This approach blends traditional face-to-face
interaction supported by the convenience of internet technologies.
CENAZ supports local outreach programs such as Science Olympiad and
Future Cities through sponsorship and volunteer support. The CENAZ
Scholarship program rewards students who work hard and enter into
engineering or technical education programs. An annual Awards dinner
provides opportunity to recognize the scholarship winner and CENAZ
volunteer support.
